About Us

Bree Yanni is the founder of Yanni’s auction house and private sales, her fascination for the arts and its' bastardisation starting when she received many knockoff and bottles toys as a child. Using philosophies from renowned writings, “Death of an Author”, and “In Defence of the Poor Image”, Bree Yanni discovered that they rang true to her first love, Roy Lichtenstein, who has inspired her  in artistic style and humour.

The collection at Yanni’s ranges from renowned to unknown artists, boasting over 300 artworks of human interpretations of recognisable products, that have since become household names, films, and other intellectual properties, that have since lost it’s original meaning.

Yet, the “bad resolution, lack of quality, and accessibility” has only made it richer with new meaning and content. (We don’t need to know who made it, rather, what it means to you…)

This website in itself is a parody of the famous auction and private sales house, Christies, where people from the 1% are able to bid and purchase expensive artworks online. Yanni is convinced that the purpose of auctions and bid wars on contemporary artworks is only to give rich people a ta write off, because these artworks are complete bullshit and we should all stop kidding ourselves (because art is anything you can get away with, and the banana taped on the wall artwork is clearly trying to get away with it.) As such, this auction site is created in the preteens of a “rich people only” zone while selling crap.

Questions you can think about as you gaze over 300 of the artworks in this collection is the purpose of these artworks being made, who would purchase this, who really benefits from all this, and if you would buy it for ironic reasons. So grab a fancy shmancy wine glass, put on a turtleneck, and hold your nose up high! It’s time to be a snobby art critic and bid on expensive art!
